The Admiraal De Ruyter office building is located at a prime location in Amsterdam on the northern part of Oosterdokseiland, bordering on the historic city centre and with panoramic views across the IJ River.
Next time you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, look out for the Admiraal De Ruyter office complex. This is the eye-catching finale of a monumental row of buildings on a street that also carries the name of Holland’s most beloved maritime hero. The complex also forms part of the major redevelopment of the southern banks of the IJ River, which has created an exciting new multifunctional area of Amsterdam.
Designed by Amsterdam architect Tijmen Ploeg, De Ruyter comprises some 7,300 square metres of lettable floor area. The building’s layout and facade – largely in glass – gives most workplaces a stunning view of the IJ River. All offices can be arranged flexibly and the complex benefits is easy to reach by both car and public transport.
The building counts seven office floors (ground level plus six floors), plus a basement car park. Special features include a spacious ground floor lobby with extremely high ceilings of 5.50 metres, making it ideal for public functions. And the fifth floor roof terrace affords a fabulous vista over much of the city of Amsterdam.
Robust yet refined, the architecture of De Ruyter connects the monumental buildings on the De Ruyterkade with the new constructions on the Oosterdokseiland (where the ODE project is also being developed by MAB). Its roughly broken brick walls correspond to the urban feeling of its surrounding environment, typifying the attention to detail that is the hallmark of every MAB project.
