An innovative four-storey mixed-use development in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, one of Paris’ wealthiest suburbs, SQY Ouest is dedicated to shopping, culture and recreation.
This groundbreaking collaboration between MAB Development and Jean-Louis SOLAL resulted in one of the first projects in France to truly integrate culture and recreation. A complex that encompasses 40,000 m² spread over four floors, SQY Ouest complements the existing Espace St. Quentin regional centre.
Located 20 km to the west of Paris, SQY Ouest has a customer catchment area of more than 500,000 inhabitants. The facilities reflect this potential, while the architecture conveys the specific nature of this innovative centre. Each floor was designed to be dedicated to a different world: Well-being and relaxation, multimedia, food & drink and a 16-screen cinema. Highlights include a bowling alley, cafes, sports shops, health and beauty outlets, a Virgin Megastore and leading fashion outlets. SQY Ouest is served by a 1,100-space public car park.
Opened in March 2005, the interior pays special attention to finish and lighting. At its heart is a bright, five-storey atrium that forms a well of light day and night. Violet and lemon colours emphasise the circular form, while the straight circulation areas and escalators are lit by random patterns of brilliant white light. It all makes for a striking impression that reflects the sophistication of the project as a whole.
