Oostpoort shopping centre 60% full
More than two years before the opening of Oostpoort shopping centre (Amsterdam Oost), 60% of the retail units have been let. In total, the project provides 18,000 m2 for retail and hospitality. Together with Linnaeusstraat and Middenweg, this creates a retail area of over 30,000 m2 with a District service function. This new shopping centre in Amsterdam Oost will open in the spring of 2014.
Recently, various well-known national and local Amsterdam-based entrepreneurs have joined up to Oostpoort. The property developer OCP has signed contracts with, among others, Albert Heijn, C&A, Xenos, BCC, Hunkemöller, Het Huis Opticiens, Bart Smit, Jack&Jones, Vero Moda, Douglas, Miss Etam, Vomar Voordeelmarkt, H&M, Nimco House of Shoes, Bakkerij Balvert, BioliCious and (the extension of) the HEMA.
Oostpoort
Oostpoort retail and residential area is an extensive (re)development in Amsterdam Oost on the former site of the Oostergasfabriek on Linnaeusstraat/Polderweg. The development is creating a new centre with around 750 homes, approximately 18,000 m² for retail, hospitality and businesses and a multi-storey car park with over 874 spaces. It also offers various municipal, cultural and sports facilities, such as the Stadsdeelhuis, the Muziekmakerscentrum, the Sportfondsenbad, the Wethouder Verheijsporthal and Sportsworld.
The collective opening of the shopping centre is expected to take place in March 2014. The homes went on the market in October 2011.
The developer
The development and construction of the Oostpoort project is being managed by OntwikkelingsCombinatie Polderweggebied VOF (OCP), a consortium of Bouwfonds Ontwikkeling, Ymere, Stadgenoot and MAB Development. MAB Development is responsible for the commercial side. The future investor in the new shopping centre will be a partnership between Stichting Spoorwegpensioenfonds and Syntrus Achmea Vastgoed.
With regard to letting the retail units, MAB Development was advised by SCM Europe (part of CBRE Amsterdam). More information about the project is available on www.beleefoostpoort.nl
