MAB and AH sign contract for new supermarket in Haarlem
Supermarket Albert Heijn Vos and MAB Development Nederland BV have signed a rental agreement for a retail unit of around 1,500 m² in the Raaks project in Haarlem city centre. This will be the fourth such supermarket franchise owned by Paul and Peter Vos in Haarlem. The new shop in the Raaks will include a branch of wine and liquor specialist Gall & Gall.
Raakskwartier
The AH supermarket will be located in the Raakshof, part of the Raakskwartier project on which construction work began on 26 May 2009. MAB Development is striving for a mixed retail offer in the Raaks. In addition to the AH there will be space for a wide range of different branches. The size of the units varies from around 100 m² to some 1,000 m² and the first shops should be ready by mid-2010.
The Raakskwartier consists of two buildings. The Raakshof will house 68 residences, some 30 percent of which are already sold. In the Zuiderstraatblok will be another 50 apartments which were bought by the Ymere housing association at the end of 2008 and will be rented out after completion. Ymere is looking to extend its portfolio in the mid-rent segment in order to stimulate people to move up the housing ladder.
