MAB Development signs more new leases for Haarlem Raaks
MAB Development has signed several new leases for the inner-city project Haarlem Raaks during the past quarter, including a Dirx drugstore, an Otelli ice-cream parlour, Shabu Shabu Restaurants, Duosports, the Tapijtcentrum (carpets), hairdressers TonJon and Vink bakery. These follow on from contracts signed with Pathé cinemas, Block Electrostore, Bruna and an Albert Heijn supermarket including a Gall & Gall liquor store.
The Raaks project includes a total of 13,000 m² of shops, bars and restaurants and a cinema. Units range from 100 m² to approximately 4,500 m², 85 percent of which is currently leased. The first shops are due to open in early 2011.
Varied shopping in Raaks
MAB Development and the city of Haarlem are succeeding in their goal of establishing a varied shopping portfolio in Raaks. According to Tim Heijenbrock, marketing manager of MAB Development, interest in the development remains high: “Both national retailers and local businesses are enquiring about the new centrally located Raaks area.”
Haarlem Raaks, enhancing the city centre
Haarlem Raaks is a new inner-city project in Haarlem developed by MAB Development in cooperation with Haarlem council that includes new buildings as well as renovations. Raaks consists of apartments, shops, bars and restaurants, a cinema, a parking garage and new council offices.
The apartment buildings Lakenhof, Dumont and Palazzo have already been delivered, and the Raaks garage with 1,000 public parking spaces for Raaks customers opened in May 2010. The cinema will be delivered at the end of 2010 and is expected to open in early 2011. The first retailers will open their doors when the public area is completed around the same time. The apartments in Raakshof and Zuiderstraatblok are currently under construction, and the new council offices are due to be occupied in the third quarter of 2011.
More information about the development of the last phase of the Raaks project, including more apartments and a child care centre, will be made available this autumn.
