MAB Development purchases Roppenheim Designer Outlet Center
MAB Development has bought the Roppenheim Outlet Center development site in Alsace (France) from Carlyle real estate portfolio company Freeport Leisure. MAB Development will develop and realise the Outlet Center themselves.
When completed in the first half of 2011, the centre will feature around one hundred medium- to high-segment stores on a retail area of 23,225 square metres. Many brands have already shown an interest in taking part.
Situated 40 km north of Strasbourg and 40 km south of the German city Karlsruhe, the Outlet Center is easily accessible from the A35 motorway in France and the A5 motorway in Germany and provides 1750 parking places. It is designed as a traditional fortified Alsace village. Around the 40,000 m² landscaped area and lake will be restaurants, a bar, cafés and a local produce market. The project has already obtained all necessary administrative authorisations and the first earthworks have been completed. Construction work is planned to start at the beginning of 2010 and an estimated 600 direct jobs will be created by the centre once open.
”Roppenheim offers us an opportunity to own and develop another major European Outlet Center,” adds Marc Vaquier, Managing Director of MAB Development France. “The Outlet Center benefits from a strategically important location and is already attracting major international tenants. We will now go forward with the development based on the approved plans.”
